March 2016: Interkultur Sing’n’Joy Festival in Provo Utah
Friday & Sunday, December 4 & 6, 2015: The Choir’s traditional Cathedral Christmas Concerts will be presented at 8:00 PM Friday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 6 in the Cathedral of the Madeleine (331 E. South Temple). The program will include music of Palestrina, Bach and Handel, as well as “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella”,”Il est né le divin Enfant” and other carols, both old and new, from around the world. Also heard will be “Blagosovi dushe moya Ghospoda” by Russian master Pavel Chsnokov, “All My Heart This Night Rejoices” by noted American composer, and “O Bethlehem” by the choir’s director. The evening will conclude with the choir singing the sublime “Sleep of the Child Jesus, Henri Büsser followed by audience and combined choirs joining in several carol favorites. Harpist Lysa Rytting and organist Ken Udy will provide accompaniment.
Saturday, October 12, 2015: Rising from Genocide – A special commemorative concert, “Hope and Remembrance,” will be presented Monday, October 12, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. in Libby Gardner Hall. Featured will be Grammy Award-winning violinists, Igor and Vesna Gruppmann, noted Armenian soprano, Elada Chakoyan, Judd Sheranian of the Utah Symphony, noted pianists, Armine Ghazaryan and Karine Rafael, and the Salt Lake Children’s Choir. The program will feature music by some of Armenia’s greatest composers, possibly unfamiliar to many in the West, such as Komitas, A.Tigranian and A. Babajanian–and will range from the sacred, 10th Century “Havun-Havun” to Aram Khachaturian’s famous “Sabre Dance.” Also heard will be J. S. Bach’s immortal Concerto for Two Violins in D Major, Mozart’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in E Minor, Woodward’s “Alleluia” (sung by the Salt Lake Children’s Choir) and “Echoes of Armenia” by Karine Rafael.
Friday & Saturday, May 1 & 2, 2015: The Salt Lake Children’s Choir, under the direction of Ralph B. Woodward, will celebrate its 35th AnniversaryFriday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church (South Temple and ‘C’Street). The program will include J. S. Bach’s much-loved “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” the sublime “Laudate Dominum” of Mozart,” Franz Schubert’s immortal “To Music,” Benjamin Britten’s setting of the wistful Scottish “Ca’ the Yowes,” “Echoes of Armenia” by Karine Rafael, and traditional spirituals, “Deep River” and “Let Me Fly.” Also heard will be musical treasures from Russia, Switzerland, Namibia and Venezuela–along with Woodward’s own “Peasant Dance” and “Desert Eyes.” Guest artists are Armenian piano virtuosa, Karine Rafael and jazz greats, Craig and Matt Larson–who will join the choir on the Duke Ellington standard, “I’m Just a Lucky So-and-So.” The evening will conclude with combined choirs singing “Look to the Rainbow” (from the Broadway musical, Finnegan’s Rainbow), “The Lord Is My Shepherd” and the choir’s traditional “A Day in Spring” joined by choir alumni.
Thursday, June 25, 2015: The Salt Lake Children’s Choir is delighted to welcome the outstanding Pacific Boychoir to Salt Lake City and will be participating with them in a special concert Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the beautiful St. Amborse Church (2315 Redondo Ave.) This concert is being presented at no charge and will begin at 7:30 PM. The program will offer a wide variety of music–ranging from Bach, to Gershwin, to John Denver.
Sunday, December 21, 2014: Family Christmas Concert. Our last appearance of the Christmas season will be at 7:30 P.M. in the LDS chapel at 951 East 100 South, Salt Lake City. This concert is open to all ages and will recap the program from the Cathedral Concerts.

Featured will be music of Bach, Handel, and other early masters, as well as familiar and lesser-known carols from many lands–including “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “What Child Is This?,” “Pat-A-Pan,” “Cantemos,” (a traditional Venezuelan villancico), and the sublime “Sleep of the Child Jesus” by Henri Busser. The evening will conclude with audience and choir joining in several carol favorites. Accompaniment will be by harpist Lysa Rytting and organist Ken Udy.
Saturday, December 6, 2014: KUTV Holiday Pops Concert. 7:30 P.M. at Cottonwood High School. The Salt Lake Children’s Choir will appear as special guests with the Choral Arts Society of Utah and the West Valley Symphony in this annual concert. This year the concert benefits the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Tickets are available at Smith’s Tix – $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

Friday & Saturday, May 2 & 3, 2014: 2014 Spring Concerts 7:30 p.m. St. Ambrose Church (1975 South 2300 East).
The Salt Lake Children’s Choir, Ralph B. Woodward, Artistic Director, will present a captivating array of music from four centuries and four continents at its Spring Concerts, at 7:30 PM, Fri. and Sat., May 2 and 3 in the St. Ambrose Church (1975 South 2300 East). Included on the program will be songs by Mendelssohn and Brahms and folk and popular melodies from the British Isles,Russia, Slovakia, Macedonia, Zambia, Chile and Bolivia. Also heard will be the “Alelluya mistica” and “A Day in Spring” by the choir’s director. Prominent jazz pianist, Steve Keen, will join the choir on the 1930’s hit, “On the Sunny Side of the Street.” Admission is open to those over 6 years of age. Featured were works by di Lasso, Handel, and other early masters, as well as familiar and lesser-known carols from many lands–including “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly,” Ill est ne, le divin Enfant, and the Peruvian villancico, “Venir, pastorcitos.” Also heard was the title theme from the motion picture, “King of Kings” by Miklos Rozsa. The evening concluded with audience and choir joining in several carol favorites. Accompaniment was by harpist Lisa Rytting and organist Ken Udy.
Wednesday, December 11, 2013: The Choir performed as a special guest in the Christmas Concert given by Highland High School’s choir.
Sunday, December 22, 2013: Community Christmas performance, 7:00 p.m. at LDS Chapel located at 951 East 100 South.
Saturday, November 30, 2013: A Celebration of Christ. The Choir performed during an interdenominational Christian Concert to usher in the Christmas Season at the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Also on the program were be acclaimed violinist, Jenny Oaks Baker, Kevin O. from Pentatonix with his beat-boxing cello, and the a cappella group, Vocal Point, from BYU. Both performances of the concert sold out.
2012 – 2013
The Salt Lake Children’s Choir, Ralph B. Woodward, Artistic Director, will present its 33rd annual spring concert on Mothers’ Day Weekend, Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11 at 7:30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church (South Temple and C Street). In addition to its angelic sound and artistry, the choir is widely known for the extraordinary scope of its repertoire, and the coming performances are no exception–as they will, musically speaking, “bring the world to Salt Lake City.” The program will include music of the Italian Renaissance, the German Art Song and charming folk songs from the British Isles, Scandinavia, Central and Southern Europe and the Americas.–including Robert Schumann’s sublime “Moonlit Night,” “Sweet Woodlark” from Scotland (on a text by Robert Burns), “Varmland” from Sweden, “Anicka dusicka” from Slovakia, the electrifying huapango, “Las Amarillas” from Chiapas, Mexico, and “Zuni Sunrise” by Laughing Eyes,” Edaackie. Also heard will be Gerald Finzi’s charming “Rosy Maiden Winifred,” Woodward’s own evocative “Canto al Sol,” the calypso, “Down by the Seashore” and the sentimental favorite, “When It’s Springtime in the Rockies.” The evening will conclude with the choir’s traditional “A Day in Spring/”Ticket information will be available soon.

February 23, 2013: Stein Eriksen Lodge, Deer Valley
The choir sang at an outdoor “Winter Wonderland” wedding during February 2013 at the beautiful Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley, UT.
The Tuesday Choir performed for an outdoor wedding in Park City. The weather made Parley’s Canyon so treacherous that the journey to Park City was almost called off, but the wedding planner wanted the choir there so much they arranged shuttle vans to drive the choir at the last minute. She told the children that she would have sent a helicopter if it had been necessary!
The children sang “Laudate Dominum” for a processional as the wedding party entered and Mendelssohn’s “Greeting” for the bride. Fortunately, they got to warm up with hot chocolate during the main part of the ceremony and then sang two more pieces as the wedding party and guests left for a sleigh ride.

November 9, 2012: BYU
The Tuesday choir performed Mahler’s 3rd symphony with the BYU Philharmonic under Conductor, Kory Katseanes. The evening was a wonderful success despite attempts by a snow storm to keep us from getting to Provo on time.
November 30 & December 2: Cathedral Concerts
The choir’s traditional Christmas Concerts in the Cathedral of the Madeleine were Friday, November 30 and Sunday, Dec. 2. The program included music of Palestrina, Bach, and Vivaldi as well as “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” “Hark Now, O Shepherds,” “Angels o’er the Fields” and other familiar and lesser-known carols from many lands. Also heard was Christmas music by Russian master, Pavel Chesnokov, well-known local composer, Vanja Watkins, and film composer, Miklos Rozsa.
The evening concluded with audience and choir joining in several carol favorites.

December 8, 2012: Salt Lake Tabernacle 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
“A Celebration of Christ” was presented as a Christian-Interfaith celebration of Christmas with performers from many faiths. The Tuesday Choir of the SLCC performed a couple of pieces from their Christmas Concert as well as two additional pieces specially arranged for this concert and accompanied by a live orchestra and an adult choir. 2011 – 2012
Spring Events
This year the choir traveled to Helena, Montana where it joined with the Helena Symphony, the Helena Symphony Chorus, the Choral Arts Society of Utah, the Pocatello Camerata Singers and eight world-class soloists for a May 12 performance of of Gustav Mahler’s monumental Eighth Symphony (“Symphony of a Thousand”).On April 26 the choir spent the day doing a live taping in the new state-of-the-art BYU Broadcast Building for the exciting new program, “Highway 89.” The music was drawn from material performed at the choir’s major spring concerts on May 4th and 5th. The program was broadcast locally and streamed internationally.
Spring Concert
The Choir performed its annual Spring Concerts on Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5 at 7:30 PM in the First Presbyterian Church (South Temple and C Street). The program included the famous “Thanks Be to Thee” by Handel and “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Bach, works by the great Venetian master, Giovanni da Palestrina and art songs by Brahms, Grieg, and Hugo Wolf. Also, in keeping with its long tradition of exploring various cultures, the choir sang music from Scotland, Venezuela, Slovakia, Japan, Italy, Portugal and Brazil — as well as “Brisa a beira-mar” (a bossa nova) and “Calypso loco’ by the choir’s director. The Salt Lake Children’s Choir, Ralph B. Woodward, director, presented its traditional Christmas concerts Friday December 2nd and Sunday December 4th at 8:00 PM in the Cathedral of the Madeleine. The cathedral is located at 331 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City. This is a wonderful tradition that began in 1984.The program included music of Palestrina, Bach, Mozart and other masters as well as “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming”, “Il est né le divin Enfant”, “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella”, the Chilean “Ha nacido en un portal”, and other familiar and less well-known carols from many lands. Also heard were “O Lovely Voices”, newly-composed “Alleluia al Rey”, by the choir’s director, and “There is no Rose” by English composer, Ronald Center. The evening concluded with the stirring “Sleep of the Child Jesus” by Henri Büsser — followed by choir, audience and organ combining in four carol favorites. Accompaniment was by harpist Janet Peterson and organist, Craig Jorgensen.
